What Is Xigduo XR 10/1000 mg?
Xigduo XR 10/1000 mg is a once-daily diabetes medicine containing dapagliflozin 10 mg and metformin hydrochloride extended-release 1000 mg.
Dapagliflozin belongs to a group called SGLT2 inhibitors. It helps the kidneys remove excess glucose from the bloodstream through urine. Metformin is a biguanide that lowers glucose production in the liver and helps the body respond more effectively to insulin.
The letters XR mean extended release. The metformin portion is released gradually instead of all at once. The tablet must therefore be swallowed whole and should not be crushed, cut or chewed.
Xigduo XR is used alongside a suitable diet and regular physical activity. It is intended for type 2 diabetes and is not a substitute for insulin in people with type 1 diabetes.
