What Is Jardiance Met 12.5/1000 mg?
Jardiance Met 12.5/1000 mg is an oral combination tablet containing 12.5 mg of empagliflozin and 1000 mg of metformin hydrochloride. Empagliflozin belongs to the SGLT2 inhibitor group. Metformin belongs to the biguanide group. They lower blood sugar through different mechanisms.
Empagliflozin increases glucose removal through urine. Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and improves the body's response to insulin. The combination is used with diet and physical activity for type 2 diabetes. It is different from standard Jardiance which contains empagliflozin alone.
Jardiance Met is a Boehringer Ingelheim brand marketed in India by Boehringer Ingelheim India Private Limited. The two numbers describe the amount of each ingredient in one tablet. They do not establish the daily dose for every patient. This strength supplies more metformin per tablet than the 12.5/500 mg version. Kidney function and previous metformin treatment are important when selecting it. Use the active ingredient directory to explore how medicines are organised by ingredient.
