What Is Forxiga 10 mg?
Forxiga 10 mg is a prescription tablet containing 10 mg of dapagliflozin. Dapagliflozin belongs to a group of medicines called sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors, commonly known as SGLT2 inhibitors.
Forxiga was first used to improve blood-sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes. Its uses now also include symptomatic chronic heart failure and chronic kidney disease in suitable adults. People receiving it for heart failure or kidney disease do not always have diabetes.
Unlike medicines that act mainly through insulin, dapagliflozin works directly through the kidneys. It reduces the amount of glucose and sodium returned to the bloodstream after the kidneys filter the blood.
Forxiga 10 mg is taken once daily. Its role in treatment depends on the diagnosed condition, kidney function, current medicines and overall health.
