The response differs between individuals because the cause of ED, general health, other medicines and correct timing all influence the result.

Sexual stimulation causes the body to release nitric oxide in the penis. This produces a substance called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which relaxes the blood vessels and allows more blood to enter the erectile tissues.

An enzyme called PDE5 normally breaks down cGMP. Vardenafil blocks this enzyme, allowing cGMP to remain active for longer. This supports better blood flow and helps the penis become firm and remain erect during sexual activity.

Carevitra only supports an erection when sexual stimulation is present. It does not cause a continuous or uncontrolled erection when taken correctly.

For most adult men, the usual starting dose of vardenafil is 10 mg taken approximately 25 to 60 minutes before sexual activity. The dose can be increased to 20 mg when the lower dose does not provide an adequate response and is well tolerated.

Therefore, Carevitra 20 mg is the maximum commonly recommended single dose and should not be treated as the standard starting dose for everyone. Take the prescribed tablet with water and do not take more than one dose within 24 hours.

Carevitra can be taken with or without food, although a heavy, high-fat meal can delay its action. Sexual stimulation is required for the medicine to work. A lower strength is generally needed for men taking certain interacting medicines, men with liver problems and some adults aged 65 or older.

Common Side Effects: Carevitra 20 mg can cause headache, facial warmth or flushing, a blocked or runny nose, indigestion, nausea, dizziness and back pain. These effects are usually mild and improve as the medicine leaves the body. Speak with a healthcare professional if a side effect continues, becomes severe or interferes with normal activities.

Serious Side Effects: Seek urgent medical help for chest pain, fainting, severe dizziness, a serious change in heartbeat, sudden loss or reduction of vision, sudden hearing loss, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing or an erection lasting longer than four hours. Do not take another dose until you have received medical advice.

Carevitra 20 mg is not suitable for everyone. It should be avoided by:

• People allergic to vardenafil

• People taking nitrate medicines

• People using recreational nitrites or “poppers”

• People taking riociguat

• People with very low blood pressure

• People with unstable angina or severe heart failure

• People recently affected by a heart attack or stroke

• People advised to avoid sexual activity

• People with severe liver disease and undergoing kidney dialysis

• Women and anyone below 18 years of age

A healthcare professional should also assess men with penile deformities, bleeding disorders or medical conditions that increase the risk of a prolonged erection.

Tell your healthcare provider about all medicines and supplements you use.

Important interactions include:

• Nitrate medicines

• Recreational nitrites or “poppers”

• Riociguat

• Alpha-blockers

• Blood pressure medicines

• HIV protease inhibitors

• Azole antifungal medicines

• Other PDE5 inhibitors or ED treatments

Nitrates and riociguat must not be combined with Carevitra because the combination can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. Medicines such as ritonavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin and clarithromycin can increase vardenafil levels and make the 20 mg strength unsuitable.

Do not combine Carevitra with sildenafil, tadalafil, avanafil or another vardenafil product unless specifically instructed by a healthcare professional.
