The medicine supports the natural erection process. It does not cause continuous erections throughout its period of activity.

Sexual stimulation causes the body to release nitric oxide. This increases a chemical called cGMP which relaxes the blood vessels supplying the penis.

An enzyme called PDE5 breaks down cGMP. Tadalafil blocks this enzyme so that the blood vessels remain relaxed for longer. More blood can then enter the penis and support a firm erection during sexual activity.

Apcalis does not work without sexual stimulation and does not act as an aphrodisiac.

Apcalis Oral Jelly 20 mg is taken when needed before planned sexual activity. Use this strength only when it has been selected for you by a healthcare professional.

Open the sachet and squeeze the prescribed amount directly into the mouth before swallowing. It can be taken with or without food. Tadalafil used for erectile dysfunction is generally taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity.

Do not take more than one sachet within 24 hours. Do not repeat the dose if the first sachet does not work immediately. Never combine it with another tadalafil product or erectile dysfunction medicine unless specifically instructed.

Because Apcalis is used when needed there is no missed dose to replace. Seek urgent medical advice if you take more than the prescribed amount.

Common Side Effects

Apcalis Oral Jelly 20 mg can cause headache, facial flushing, indigestion, a blocked or runny nose, dizziness, nausea, back pain and muscle aches. These effects are normally temporary and improve as tadalafil leaves the body. Speak with a healthcare professional if any reaction becomes severe or continues for a long time.

Serious Side Effects

Stop taking the medicine and obtain urgent medical help for chest pain, fainting, severe breathing difficulty, swelling of the face or throat, sudden vision changes, sudden hearing loss or a seizure. A painful erection or an erection lasting longer than four hours also requires immediate medical treatment.

Apcalis Oral Jelly is not suitable for everyone. It should be avoided by:

• People allergic to tadalafil

• People taking nitrate medicines

• People using nitrate-containing poppers

• People taking riociguat

• Men advised to avoid sexual activity

• People with severe low blood pressure

• People with uncontrolled high blood pressure

• People with certain serious heart conditions

• People with a recent heart attack or stroke

• People with previous tadalafil-related vision loss

• Women and people under 18 for ED treatment

People with kidney disease, liver disease, blood-cell disorders or a condition affecting the shape of the penis require medical assessment before using tadalafil.

Tell the healthcare professional about all medicines and supplements being used.

Important interactions include:

Nitrates and riociguat must not be combined with tadalafil because the combination can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. Do not combine Apcalis with another ED treatment without medical instructions.
