When used at a dose selected by a healthcare professional, vardenafil may:

A higher tablet strength does not automatically provide a better response. The most suitable dose is the one that provides the required effect with manageable side effects.

Sexual stimulation causes the body to release nitric oxide. This increases a substance called cyclic guanosine monophosphate, or cGMP, which relaxes blood vessels and allows more blood to enter the penis.

An enzyme called PDE5 normally breaks down cGMP. Vardenafil temporarily blocks this enzyme, allowing cGMP to remain active for longer. This supports improved blood flow and helps the natural erection process during sexual stimulation.

The medicine only supports the physical erection response. It does not create sexual interest or work without sexual arousal.

Standard vardenafil doses range from 5 mg to 20 mg, usually taken approximately 25 to 60 minutes before sexual activity, with a maximum frequency of once in 24 hours. Because one Carevitra tablet contains 60 mg, do not take it unless a qualified healthcare professional has reviewed the strength and provided clear, product-specific instructions.

Do not take the entire tablet, divide it, repeat a dose or combine it with another erectile dysfunction medicine on your own. Carevitra may be taken with or without food, although a heavy or high-fat meal may delay its effect. Sexual stimulation is required for the medicine to work.

Common Side Effects: Carevitra may cause headache, facial warmth or flushing, a blocked or runny nose, indigestion, nausea, dizziness or back pain. These effects are often temporary, but a healthcare professional should be contacted if they become severe, continue for a long time or interfere with normal activities.

Serious Side Effects: Obtain urgent medical help for chest pain, fainting, severe dizziness, a sudden change or loss of vision, sudden hearing loss, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing or an erection lasting longer than four hours. Do not take another dose until appropriate medical advice has been received.

Carevitra 60 mg should not be used without medical assessment by:

• People allergic to vardenafil

• People using recreational nitrate products or “poppers”

• People advised to avoid sexual activity because of a heart condition

• People with very low blood pressure

• People with inherited long-QT syndrome

• People taking certain heart-rhythm medicines

• People with severe liver disease

• People receiving kidney dialysis

• Women and anyone under 18 years of age

Tell the healthcare professional about all medicines, supplements and recreational substances being used.

Important interactions include:

• Nitrate medicines

• Nicorandil

• Riociguat

• Alpha-blockers

• Blood pressure medicines

• Ketoconazole or itraconazole

• Clarithromycin or erythromycin

• HIV protease inhibitors

• Grapefruit or grapefruit juice

Some combinations can cause a serious fall in blood pressure or increase the amount of vardenafil in the body. Do not combine Carevitra with another erectile dysfunction medicine unless specifically directed by a healthcare professional.
