When prescribed for an appropriate physical arousal problem, sildenafil can:

• Support blood flow to genital tissues

• Improve physical response during stimulation

• Increase genital sensitivity

• Support natural lubrication

• Help maintain physical arousal

• Reduce frustration caused by poor physical response

Results are not consistent for every woman because female sexual arousal involves physical, hormonal, emotional and relationship factors. Sildenafil only addresses the blood-flow part of the response.

During sexual stimulation, the body releases nitric oxide. This increases a substance called cyclic guanosine monophosphate, or cGMP, which relaxes smooth muscle and allows more blood to enter genital tissues.

An enzyme called PDE5 normally breaks down cGMP. Sildenafil blocks this enzyme, allowing the blood-flow response to last longer. In women with a physical arousal problem, this action can increase blood flow around the genital area.

Lovegra does not work as a hormone or aphrodisiac. It does not create sexual desire, and physical or emotional stimulation is still required for an arousal response.

Lovegra 100 mg is generally taken 30 to 60 minutes before planned sexual activity and swallowed whole with water. It can be taken with or without food, although a high-fat meal can delay its effect. 

Do not take more than one dose within 24 hours, and avoid combining it with another sildenafil or PDE5-inhibitor medicine. Its effect can remain for approximately four hours, but sexual stimulation is still required. Since there is no approved standard sildenafil dose for female sexual arousal difficulties, Lovegra 100 mg should only be taken when this strength has been specifically prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Common Side Effects

Common sildenafil side effects include headache, facial flushing, indigestion, nausea, dizziness, blocked or runny nose, back pain and muscle aches. Temporary visual effects such as blurred vision, light sensitivity or a blue-green colour tint can also occur.

Serious Side Effects

Stop taking the medicine and obtain urgent medical attention for chest pain, fainting, severe dizziness, breathing difficulty or facial and throat swelling. Sudden loss or reduction of vision and sudden hearing changes accompanied by ringing in the ears or dizziness also require immediate medical assessment.

Lovegra must not be taken without medical approval when any of the following applies:

• Sildenafil allergy

• Nitrate medicine use

• Riociguat treatment

• Serious heart disease

• Recent heart attack

• Recent stroke

• Very low blood pressure

• Severe liver disease

• Previous NAION-related vision loss

• Serious inherited eye disease

• Pregnancy

• Breastfeeding

• Other sildenafil products

• Other PDE5 inhibitors

Nitrates and riociguat are strict contraindications because combining them with sildenafil can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure.

Tell the doctor or pharmacist about all medicines, supplements and herbal products being used.

Important interactions include:

• Blood-pressure medicines

• Other PDE5 inhibitors

• Other sildenafil products

• Ritonavir

• Azole antifungal medicines

• Macrolide antibiotics

Nitrates include medicines such as nitroglycerin and isosorbide mononitrate, as well as recreational nitrites known as “poppers.” These must not be combined with sildenafil.

Ritonavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin and similar medicines can raise sildenafil levels and increase side effects. Alpha-blockers and other blood-pressure medicines can increase the risk of dizziness, fainting and low blood pressure.
