What Is Febentel 500 mg?
Febentel 500 mg is a tablet containing 500 mg of fenbendazole. Fenbendazole belongs to the benzimidazole group of anthelmintics and is used to control parasitic worms such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and certain tapeworms in animals.
It works by interrupting the parasite’s ability to absorb glucose and produce energy. This gradually weakens susceptible worms and leads to their death.
Some people use fenbendazole off-label for cancer after laboratory studies reported activity against certain cancer cells. Researchers have examined its effects on microtubules, glucose uptake and pathways involved in cancer-cell survival. Controlled human trials have not established its effectiveness, long-term safety or appropriate cancer dosage.
Fenbendazole has also appeared in computer-based COVID-19 research. These studies examined potential interactions with SARS-CoV-2 proteins but did not test Febentel 500 mg in people. Further laboratory and human studies are required before any clinical role can be determined.
