Tretiheal Cream 0.025%

With consistent use as prescribed, Tretiheal 0.025% Cream can:

• Help clear blackheads and whiteheads

• Reduce the formation of new acne spots

• Improve acne in the treated area over time

• Help keep pores from becoming blocked again

Improvement takes time. Some people notice changes within a few weeks, while a clearer benefit may take six weeks or longer. Acne can also appear worse during the early weeks as spots already forming beneath the skin become visible. 

Small plugs of skin cells can build up inside pores and lead to acne. Tretinoin helps skin cells shed in a way that makes these plugs less likely to form. It also helps clear plugs already developing in the pores.

This is why Tretiheal is usually applied in a thin layer across the affected acne-prone area, as prescribed, rather than dabbed only on individual spots. Results build with continued use; the cream does not act like a quick spot treatment. 

Tretiheal Cream 0.025% is generally applied once daily in the evening, unless your dermatologist gives different instructions. Wash the affected skin gently and let it dry completely before applying a thin layer. For the face, use only enough cream to lightly cover the area your dermatologist has told you to treat. Keep it away from the eyes, lips, corners of the nose and broken skin.

If your skin becomes irritated, speak to your dermatologist. They may advise you to use it less often while your skin adjusts. Using a thicker layer or applying it more frequently will not make it work faster and can cause more irritation. Use a suitable moisturiser when needed, and protect treated skin from the sun during the day. 

Common side effects - Dryness, redness, peeling, mild burning or stinging can occur where the cream is applied, especially when treatment begins. Some people also notice an early increase in visible spots. Tell your dermatologist if irritation is difficult to manage or does not settle.

Serious side effect - Stop applying the cream and seek medical advice if the treated skin becomes severely painful, swollen, blistered or heavily crusted. Seek urgent help for signs of an allergic reaction, such as widespread hives or swelling of the face or throat. 

Tretiheal is applied to the skin, not taken by mouth. Do not use it, or delay applying it to the affected area, if you:

• Are allergic to tretinoin or another ingredient in the cream

• Are pregnant or planning a pregnancy

• Have sunburn on the area to be treated

• Have broken or severely irritated skin in the treatment area

People with eczema should discuss the affected areas with their dermatologist before use because tretinoin can cause marked irritation on eczematous skin. If you are breastfeeding, ask your healthcare professional for advice before starting treatment.

Tell your dermatologist about other acne medicines and skin products you use. Products that deserve particular attention include:

• Benzoyl peroxide

• Salicylic acid treatments

• Sulfur or resorcinol products

• Other topical retinoids

• Harsh scrubs or exfoliants

• Strong alcohol-based skin products

• Hair-removal products used on the treated area

Some treatments can be used within the same skin care plan, but your dermatologist should tell you which products to use and when. Combining irritating products on your own can make redness and peeling worse. 

• Store the tube below 25°C, following the instructions on its packaging.

• Keep it in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

• Do not freeze it.

• Close the tube firmly after each use.

• Keep it out of reach of children.

• Do not use it after the expiry date.
